I'll bet ya a case of whatever ya want that we'll hear about Satan starting up his snowblower before that happens, but it's a damn nice thing to dream for a decent SW shooter that doesn't have bonus cards or lightsabers

Just got back from three months in the bush for work, setting up for my last year of university.

Peltawu remained silent throughout the impromptu briefing, scanning the hologram and evaluating the local resistance mentally. With new recruits being trained every 3 months, that would mean shortened training cycles, an inability to follow soldiers into the field to guide them in action. Not to mention the implicit high casualty rate of any species that reproduced at such a high volume. Birth rates that high meant one thing: predators, and damned effective ones. As he felt the shuttle pitch downwards into its descent, he shifted his bowcaster across his knees and wiped his sweating palms on his trousers. Space travel rankled with him, the shuttle deck was too hard, had no give, spread every vibration and tremor of the craft through the floor and up through his knees. It was like standing ahead of a boma stampede. Sniffing hard to clear his nose, Byrren set his jaw and checked the safety on his bowcaster, making sure the bronzium switch was flipped to the right to block the trigger. The last thing he needed was an accidental discharge within the first 5 minutes of establishing contact. Satisfied, he leaned forward and tilted his chin towards Thraskan to gain his attention.

"These criminal elements, then. Will they put us in contact with the indigenous populations, or are we organizing an urban resistance and leaving sleeper agents before we even begin a campaign in the forests?" He asked, somewhat tartly. He was a hunter, and while he could fight in the cities and was a better shot than likely anyone else in the shuttle, he'd been brought onboard for rural geurilla operations, not house-to-house fighting and fly-bys on the local Sith watering holes.

Byrren eyed the Chiss carefully as he spoke, reflecting that naming their team after an aquatic predator didn't speak much for everyone being in their element. But he ignored the poorly chosen mascot and placed one hand on his bowcaster, rubbing his fingers along the oiled woshyr wood as he shifted over slightly.

As the Chiss left, he relaxed, then turned to his right as a cybernetic arm extended in front of his chest and the man attached to it introduced himself.

"Gillick Yorvan. Call me Gil." He said pleasantly.

Peltawu took the metal and and shook it. "Byrren Peltawu. Either one works. What'd they get you in for?" He asked, noting Gil's glance at his bowcaster.

Name: Byrren Peltawu

Age: 34

Race: Human

Specializations: Guerilla combat, marksmanship, irregular warfare and trap setting

Equipment: Peltawu is a slight, wiry man, with short dark hair and a long scar on his ribs from an ill-fated charge by a Katarn. He carries a self-cocking bowcaster, a gift from a Wookiee hunting companion, a heavy blaster pistol and a short skinning knife. He wears little body armour, only a sturdy jacket and shin plates, and goes into combat in a pair of worn, stained hunting trousers with his Blood Stripe sewn onto them and a pair of knee high boots

History: Born on Corellia, Peltawu kept away from the circles of the military until his late twenties. Instead, he began a career as a big-game hunter starting from the day he turned 17, when he bought a heavy blaster rifle and a ticket to the Outer Rim. Over the next 10 years, Peltawu became one of the most well-known hunters in the Mytaranor sector, hunting extensively on Kashyyyk. However, the mauling death of a Wookiee hunting companion while hunting a Katarn convinced Peltawu to leave hunting for several years, whereupon he enlisted in the Republic forces, being privately awarded the Corellian Blood Stripe for his actions in a rescue mission on Ilum. Retiring from active duty after 6 years, Peltawu was preparing to return to Kashyyyk to continue as a Katarn hunter and to pursue a Netweaver when the steady offer of pay as a mercenary convinced him to turn his rifle sights back to prey that was far more intelligent.

I still pop in to check every once in a while and reminisce, but University's been keeping me pretty busy lately. Always miss the RPs and the old community we had, this was a great group back in the day and I miss it like hell.

Well, throughout my lurking I've been at Queen's University studying for my BA in Political Studies and working for a reforestation company in the summers as a Tree Planter (many bears fought, many spruce planted) but this year I've been hired on as a quality checker/health & safety rep. And, as it is the Season of Midterms, I has no life but the library.

Especially since the vast majority of us came along around 2008-2010. Let's not forget, most of the Vets here were around 13-16 when they first joined. Now, as 17-19 year olds, we've passed what seems to me to be a middle school geekery phase to become more balanced individuals less focused on youth-oriented sci-fi/fantasy and more focused on intricate character-driven dramas. Ok, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, but still. We don't spend every living moment playing video games and trying to learn the Mando'a lexicon like we did when we were 8th graders. Hell, even the RPG Section has flatlined. Granted, I'm an example of a person who has largely abandoned the place (I haven't played a video game when I wasn't at a college residence in almost 3 years) due to interest change, but I think that eventually this place will flatline.  Which is a pity, because I've spent almost 47 days of my life logged in here.

So for the first time since the dissolution of the Antipopes of Avignon, a Bishop of Rome has stepped down. Benedict XVI is the first Pope in 600 years to retire. Going to a Catholic School, this comes as a bit of a shock to everyone, since we didn't have school due to freezing rain yesterday. Thoughts?

Earlier this week, we got a little over 2 feet of snow. 2 feet. In one day. Which I promptly had to shovel so we could walk out the the car the next morning. Welcome to -7 Farenheit or -20 Celsius. Mon pays, c'est nest pas un pays. C'est l'hiver. My Country is not a Country. It's Winter.

Oh, and found out that applying for Universities, I have a 90% (4.0 GPA for all y'all Americans) average. Pretty psyched.

Busy couple weeks. Got medically disqualified from the Canadian Forces, applied for University, attended my Cadet Sqn's Christmas Mess Dinner (big deal since it's our 70th Anniversary this year, founded waayy back in 1942 and going strong ever since!), and got early acceptance to the University of Ottawa for a Double Baccalaureate in Poli-Sci and Public Administration. For all you Americans out there, the University of Ottawa is a major research University in the national capital (Ottawa, hence the name), known for its science programs and thier major oppourtunities for Poli-Sci students to gain work experience on Parliament Hill (equivalent to Capitol Hill in Washington DC, holds our major government buildings). So yeah, quite excited!

Lest We Forget. Take two minutes of silence to remember our veterans and war dead at 11:00. It's a pittance of time for what they gave us.

Turwaithion nodded and stood shakily, turning to stand facing the back wall of his cell. Cursing, he kicked the wall savagely, turning to see an Elf, wearing the silver star of the FŽanorian soldiers, meant to change the Death Watch guard, decapitate his former compatriot and deactivate the force fields. "We must go", he said, throwing the King the dead guard's rifle and Adenn his sidearms. "We have little time, your wife and daughter will rendez-vous with us at the escape pods. I will take you to the Armoury."

Turwaithion nodded, and bolted after the guard, rifle at the ready. Turning a corner, he raised his rifle to stare down the corrider, spotting a Feanorian patrol who promptly nodded to them and joined the party of escapees. Turwaithion nodded to them as he opened the turbolift and punched the controls for the gun deck, where as the Feanorians instructed, the Armoury was situated.

Stepping out, Turwaithion cursed as a pair of Deathwatchmen rounded the corner to stare at the Elves in blatant disbelief, before opening fire on them. On e of the Deathwatchmen paused, and an alarm klaxon began to blare and the ship's computer declared a prisoner escape as both Deathwatchmen were cut down by Elvish blasterfire.

"Adenn!" Turwaithion barked. "Take point!"

Passed my CFAT (Canadian Forces Aptutite Test, the equivalent of the ASVAB) with flying colours today, qualified for numerous Officer positions to the point where the Captain who conducted my interview suggested that I apply for ROTP this month. I also aced my interview to boot! After a good talk with a unit officer, I got a good bit of info on numerous trades and found out that my preformance and D&D had throughly impressed the recruiting officers.

Have a few things to do before my medical is cleared but I should be good to go with a note, PT test is a piece of cake which I'll do with ease whenever my medical goes through, and then enroll! All in all great day!

Had a massive rant typed up, deleted it when I realized I sounded like an Anti-French nutcase. What Dred said. All of it.

Although frankly I'm a little pissed off at myself that it took me two days after the fact to realise the Bloc are back in power. Sad day for Canada. Brain-dead day for Quebec. -_-

Oh, those two posts demand a "like" button.

Sent away for my Firearms Permit. Yes my American friends. In Canada we need a course, a piece of plastic AND a background check to own a boom-stick! Thankfully no more pesky federal registry though...
