I have it on Steam, and shows that 4 of my friends from here have it as well.  Unfortunately it's not in the current holiday sale, but then again it isn't that expensive on Steam anyway (6.99 here).

So Disney have announced the release date for the movie: 18th December 2015.

http://starwars.com/news/star-wars-episode-vii-to-open-december-18-2015.html

Can't imagine J.J. Abrams is to pleased, considering he said he was happy to push the release date back as long as it was in May.

Also announced a couple of weeks back are some of the crew that will be making the movie:

Just in case anyone wasn't aware, the Battlefield 4 beta is now open to anyone on Xbox Live.  It's around 1.5 GB to download.  Also, it's a free Xbox Live Gold weekend (starting today), so anyone with an Xbox Live account can download and play it!

Today I had to get up bright and early to go and do a resit exam for my degree.  I only realised last night that there happened to be an airshow going on down at the beach in the same town my university is in, so after my exam I decided to go down and watch as it's been a few years since I last went.  I forgot how loud the Eurofighter can be when it's flying away from you with afterburners on, and also just how amazing the Red Arrows display is.  Coupled with a surprise flare jettisoning from a Navy Lynx during its display, it all amounted to a good showing.

Oh, and my exam went OK as well....

One of the panels I attended at Celebration Europe II was the "Lost secrets of Return of the Jedi", with Leland Che (who looks after continuity at LucasFilm) who played a quiz of "Who is and isn't dead", showing various characters from RotJ and asking the audience of they died in the movie or EU.  When Boba Fett came up he was stated as someone who was brought back, but Leland mentioned that while he survived in the EU, in George Lucas' mind Boba Fett was always dead after the Sarlacc.

In other news, it was announced at Kathleen Kennedy's panel at CE II (which I missed) that John Williams will be coming back to score the music for the next 3 films. :D

Well, that was an awesome 3 days.  I can definitely see why people go year after year!  I just uploaded a load of photos to Facebook, so I'll filter through them soon to get the ones I want to post here.  Going to be a long report....

Been in Celebration Europe II preparation mode today.  Got flight boarding passes printed for tomorrow, also printed maps of the show floor and the convention schedule for each day, and of course started my packing (not taking much, so don't need to pack much).  Can't really believe how quick it's come around, but still I'm very excited!

General Star Wars / Re: Star Wars: Battlefront (2013)

I imagine there's always been talk of doing a BF3 around LA, but once Disney gave EA the contract, I'll bet it was the first thing out of the Team Heads at DICE.
Don't forget, Battlefront 3 was in development by Free Radical Design before they went bust a few years back, so there obviously was interest at some point within LucasArts to get a new Battlefront game made.  It has also been hinted that even before the Disney deal, LucasArts was favouring DICE to take on the role of making the next Battlefront game.

http://www.vg247.com/2013/06/13/star-wars-battlefront-wont-just-be-re-skinned-battlefield-says-dice/

Here's hoping it comes to Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. I don't think I"ll buy the new Xbox in till it gets a price cut.
EA already said recently that they will be releasing all console games on both current and next gen consoles until "at least 2017".

http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/fifa_14/news/ea_to_support_xbox_360_and_ps3_until_at_least_2017.html

Some interesting news about the game's development came out of an interview yesterday.  It seems that the core game is being made in DICE's headquarters in Sweden, while the new DICE LA team will be doing additional content.

It was also confirmed that the Medal of Honor developers (Danger Close Games) have been shut down, with many staff members going to this new studio.

And finally, it was said in the interview that this isn't Battlefront 3, but a new game based on DICE's interpretation of what a Battlefront game should be.

General Star Wars / Re: Question about 1313
« on: June 14, 2013, 06:08:04 AM »
They won't be able to simply take over what was previously developed because EA wants them to use Frostbite 3 for the engine, so there would be additional work needed to port all the art assets and game logic scripting over from whatever engine was used previously (Unreal?) to Frostbite 3.

I shall be eagerly awaiting any news of this, specifically whether or not we'll see anything new at CEII.

Was this planned before or after the disney deal, because if it was after, I have high hopes for the future.
Given how this was just a short pre-rendered teaser trailer I'd say after the Disney deal, and after the EA deal as well.

Lucasarts were the developer, and since their development staff got laid off 1313 is unfortunately cancelled.  The only hope is if EA has picked it back up for BioWare or Visceral Games to develop.  So far EA has only announced Battlefront III, so we don't know what the other 2 Star Wars games are as of yet.

I'd say Halo 4.  Reach was good, but I prefer Spartan Ops over Firefight.

If you're interested in Halo games then be sure to get an Xbox Live Gold subscription, not only for Spartan Ops and Multiplayer, but also because Microsoft announced yesterday that in the coming months they'll be giving all Gold members a copy of Halo 3 for free!

I guess it depends on how far development of the game is, and when they are targeting release, as to whether or not it will actually be there.  I may have to settle for just a world exclusive gameplay trailer/live demo.  Suffice to say, I'll be keeping a close eye on the CEII website for any announcements on it.

Guaranteed pre-order as soon as it becomes available.

Also, just realised that it may well be playable at CE II.  If so, then its suddenly become a lot less likely I'll see anything else in the convention....

Today I found out just how fast information goes over the internet. Last night I put up my new CV on a job searching website for job agencies and potential employers to find.  From about 8:45 to 11:30 this morning I was getting a phone call every 20 minutes from various job agencies either wanting to put my CV in their database or offering to send my CV to one of their clients.  It was very hectic and I don't feel like I got anything done this morning, but at least I now have a job interview on Friday!  With any luck I'll be earning money before the end of the month, and finally beginning to pay back my lovely 25,000 of student debt I've accumulated going to university.

Got my first convention experience in today.  Went up to London for MCM Expo (London Comic Con).  IT didn't quite turn out to be what I was expecting.  The queue for tickets ended up being 2 hours long, while the convention floor itself was so small that I walked all of it within half an hour.  Combined with the train fare both up to London and on the underground, my wallet was empty by the time I got home, without buying any souvenirs.  I also didn't get to see Mark Meer (voice of male Commander Shepard in Mass Effect) who was supposed to be there today.

However, there were tons of costumers there, especially gaming ones, and I got to see some Star Wars ones too (including an Omega squad RC!).  May go to the one in October if it is bigger then this one, but the May ones seems to be too small for it to be worth the hassle for me.  At least Celebration Europe II in July should be much bigger (and I have my tickets pre-booked, so hopefully no long queues!).

More details have just emerged on this.  Its been confirmed that it's set between Episode III and IV, and it is being made by Lucasfilm Animation.  Its also been announced that it will debut as a 1 hour special on the Disney channel late next year, followed by a series on the Disney XD channels around the world.  Oh, and those of us going to Celebration Europe II will get to see an exclusive first lookl! :D

General Star Wars / Re: EA to make new Star Wars games
« on: May 21, 2013, 05:15:05 PM »
EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has name-dropped Battlefront as a series they have an opportunity to work with using the Star Wars licence during a talk at the  the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference.  He also said that they're not making movie games, but standalone titles (though they may be released around the same time as the movies for marketing).

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/ea-teases-new-star-wars-battlefront-game-6408642

He also mentions that EA are committed to releasing on current-gen consoles until at least 2017, so we won't have to upgrade to the next gen consoles just yet.
