OK, I've updated the first post with the text colour tag in now.

I've also played around with every other tag listed and those that don't work I've added a summary of (not the code itself) in the end.  It seems that colour changing is the only font editing you can do at the moment.  Feel free to take a look and see what you could be able to play around with if they are made to work.

going to have fun with this..
does this one work?
hmtl color codes work if you put # and the color code.
So it is[color=#html color code]Text here will appear as normal, but in the html color, like i showed with
#99FF33 and #99CCFF.[/color]
Here is the site I got the html color codes from http://html-color-codes.com/

Hmm, I didn't think that using the hexadecimal number (which is what the # represents) would work, so I didn't bother to try and find out. (this is #2D73B9, if your interested)

I've got a HTML book with the hex codes for a lot of HTML colours , but generally I use the list on the w3 schools site.

Mhm. There is also also a little trick with the URL BBCode I like to use at times.

Let me see if I can get it to work.. Say I wanted to link back to somewhere, but not exactly in a direct manner like saying "Website here" and rather with an image in my signature or whatever. It would be like this(Random IMG from my photobucket.):

<- Click.

Or if you're a sneaky type, use an emoticon. : :upsidedown:

Those two are simply:
Code: [Select]
[url=http://forum.clonecommandos.net/index.php][IMG]http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a50/xpiritu/jean/Ardent.png[/IMG][/url]
[url=http://forum.clonecommandos.net/index.php?board=7.0] :upsidedown:[/url]

Yeahhh.. Just stick in the image code in the place of the place of the text.. Just felt like mentioning that(Even though someone prolly already knows).  :yummy:

EDIT:: By the way, on those color things, the list of color names that Mereel listed aren't all that you are limited to. Just think of some color names like:

Spring Green
Tan
Olive
Magenta
Violet
Indian Red
Coral
Gold
Sky Blue

And so on and forth..

Sorry for the newb question but how do we add extra text to our URL links??

like renaming the link to whatever like say I linked a youtube vid and I wanted to rename it here so people here would see as

'Clicky'?

URL tags

URLs, or Uniform Resource Locators, are what you type into your web browser to display a web page.  It is easier then typing the IP address of the website, and is often useful in passing on information to others.  The tag is different to the others shown so far, and this is a prime example of a tag that needs extra data to function.   The tag is as follows: [url=http://http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=57]SMF BBCode list[/url]

Lets break it down.  The first part declares the tag type, in this case URL.  The equals then points the tag to the URL specified by the user.  If no URL is provided then the forum defaults to 'http:///', which returns an error in the web browser if followed.  After the opening tag is closed, any text is placed which is what the other users see and click on.  It is perfectly acceptable to simply put the URL in letting everyone know exactly where it goes to.  Finally, the closing tag is used which simply is a forward slash followed by the tag name, in this case 'url'.

So, know knowing how it works, lets see what it looks like using the code above: SMF BBCode list

Now, here is where it gets confusing.  There is another way you can post URL tags.  It means that only the URL is displayed as text, but it works just the same.  Instead of putting the URL in the opening tag, simply put it where the text would go and close it off as normal.  In other words, [url]http://http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=57[/url] which displays as http://http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=57  This is the tag type the software defaults to, but I personally prefer the one above for the extra flexibility it gives you when posting the link.
