Su'cuy, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out how I should translate my name, which means "nobleman" or "patrician"
I know those words don't translate in mando'a. Any help would be great!

Well Kando and kandosii are forms of "noble," and ad means "man," but you might want alor for "leader" instead.

You could try: Kand'alor, or Kando'ad.

Also, be strongly encouraged to drop by the intro thread and put down your name, age, and social security number, or the mods will beat you with hammers!

(Well, they probably won't, but you should post your social security number anyway, just to be, um . . . safe.)

Bad Rune, Stop trying to get other peoples money.

and Rune remember the Mandalorian language has no sex preference in it so ad actually means Man/Woman.

Thanks for the help, I'm liking the sound of Kando'ad

Oh yeah, don't worry, I was thinking of just setting it so my SS # appears whenever I post.

I was using it in the general sense of "individual," but, yes, you're right.

Well Tanner means "one who tans hide"
pel'gam means "skin"
ulik means "animal", since I can't find a word for hide or leather in mando'a
borarir means "work"
So those three can be melded together to get the rough approximation of your name
Pel'ik'rir
Pel'uli'r
Ulik'gam'ir
Those are just a few examples, but you can get pretty creative with how you arrange them. I hope this helps, maybe someone else can give you a clearer answer.

Well....hey, there. Long time, no see. I'm tryin' to get back in the swing of some linguistic exercises here lately. Open for business once more! I keep insanely busy with school, but I'll do what I can to swing by and see what's happenin'. =]

Anyone figure a descent translation for ancestor or ghost or spirits ( not fighting spirit or drinking spirits)?

Chris>bearing Christ inside>Manda'jorir (MAN-da-JAW-reer)
There you go Grox!

Fettishit:
Well there's manda, but that's closer to heaven I suppose. Other than that I can't seem to find any word for an ancestor. The closest I can think of is to mix the word old ruug'la with grandfather ba'buir. So maybe ruu'ba'buir?

Find out what your name means, then use the Mando'a dictionary. I'll see about the link to it later.

Well, our ever-reliable friend Wikipedia says it means channel or strait, so my approximation would be shiib'yustapir...
