I've been thinking about the trailer, and what it tells us about the story.  It seems to be set in Russia, perhaps with the Ultranationalists again (that featured in the very first game).  This must mean the GRAW storyline is over, and I severely doubt now we'll see a tie-in with the HAWX storyline.  No indication if Captain Mitchell will make another appearance either, so its possible this could be set after HAWX and will perhaps be closer to the Endwar era.

like a midway point between GRAW and Endwar, it seems. maybe, since Mitchell wont be the PC, he will be your commander. since in Endwar, I belive, he is the general, right?

HAWX starts off in GRAW 2 and fast forwards to around the time of EndWar (2021) with Mitchell still as a Captain in Ghost Recon, so its uncertain what rank Mitchell will have if it is set around that time.  Since there is a 6 year gap in the middle of HAWX it could be possible that GR:FS is set in that instead, which means there would still be a possibility for another HAWX - Ghost Recon tie-in in the future.

On the UK Xbox 360 dashboard, Inside Xbox's OXM report has a video out now featuring an interview about GR: FS.  The main focus of the interview was on the squad dynamics, and how you will have a 'snap-in, snap-out' squad gameplay.  This was described as being something that will let you 'snap-in' to a friend (hinting at full co-op campaign) to perhaps cover their rear, or 'snap-out' to break off from the squad and perhaps scout out ahead.  It sounds like interesting stuff, and when asked about how the developers feel about the upcoming CoD and MoH games, they said GR: FS is completely different and they're not worried at all.

Eh, I don't know... it just seems so... bland and generic at first glance. At least for me. We've all seen the 'badass invisible soldier' thing before, haven't we?

You can also be invisible in Battlefield: 2142, and Halo :P But, of course, this seems way more 1/2 sci-fi, 1/2 modern. It's a futuristic game, but looks like what I think what year the game takes place in. I'm thinking 2023 (but I've never played Endwar, nor read the book, nor read up on it, so I'm not accurate).

Also, did you guys see the couple pages about it in the May edition of OXM? The game looks INSANEly better than even what the live action trailer makes it look like. Yeah, I know. Insanely better than what's already insane.

There is an article up on Joystiq about GR: FS.  It seems we'll get UCAVs now, plus everything we saw in the live-action trailer.  It also confirms that it won't be set in Mexico, so Russia is most likely now.  Soldiers seem to be more class based now, with recon, engineer and sniper classes mentioned.  It also seems this 'snap-in/snap-out' gameplay has you literally snapped to a team-mate, with you moving where they move, and you only controlling the direction you look whilst snapped-in.

They didn't say, they just asked the group members to try and guess!  Most people seem to believe its for attaching a rappelling line to.

Just announced on the GR Facebook page, Future Soldier has been pushed back to an early 2011 release.  I guess it at least means the release schedule this autumn is going to be slightly less hectic, and Ubisoft get some more time to polish the game.
