T-shirt production
« on: January 20, 2012, 08:29:27 PM »
Yes, I know there is already a thread for this. But, I am going to start production of these shirts. All the money I earn I will use to fund my Mandalorian costume. I do need designs to print and will be contacting Some of the artist on the forum. I also have a good moto for the back. "We aren't Jedi" tell me what you think of it and submit any artwork.

Small problem with you plan ner vod;

Real artwork has an intrinsic value.  Also, there are a few copyright issues at hand. By your post, you give the impression that you plan on letting someone else donate artwork so that you can get a T-shirt made to turn around and re-sell to the forum to make a profit to put toward your armour kit.

Couple flaws there.  I'll let you puzzle them out.

i also figured that out, that's why i decided that the artist would get a percentage that i would work out with him/her. Also, when the shirt is printed, i will also have their name and the date put at the bottom of the picture.

I'm not sure if all of the particulars will be able to be ironed out.
But if they are... And if T-shorts are being produced.

I would definitely like to get a cool BA / Mando-Commando t-shirt

re-sell to the forum to make a profit to put toward your armour kit.

I'll point out the obvious moral problem here: these forums aren't free. For Amy that is. Making a profit off of the forum, if any is made, should pay for the cost of the product, and the rest going toward upkeep of the forum.

Drake is flamboyant, and may go over the top, but if he were not that extrovert then who would move things along?

Profit cannot be made on Star Wars properties.
I'm pretty sure groups like Mandalorian Mercs and the 501st account for that by explicitly functioning as non-profit charities.   Members may chime in to support or correct me.

That is true, Dred.  However, RC-1499 could potentially get around this if the t-shirts are designed in a way to be recognisable as BA forum t-shirts and not star wars ones.  I don't know how this could be achieved as I'm not an artist, and it wouldn't be the RC t-shirts that the previous discussion was about, but it is an option that shouldn't risk incurring the wrath of the LucasFilm lawyers.

RC helmet: done.

Now the question remains. How do we make a shirt that is BA but not SW

we could just put "Brother's All" on the shirt and make up our own symbol that represents this forum and that's it. I mean the phrase "Brother's All" is copyrighted to Star Wars and you could split the profit three ways, some to you, some to the artist (or they could do it for charity) and some to Amy to help maintain the site.

I like it. Now, what artist is willing to make some art and get 1/3 of the profit, or donate the artwork?

I would make an actual interest thread and get names before you do the real planning.
