Mandalorian Armor Color Significance
« on: November 14, 2007, 12:49:18 AM »
Okay according to True Colors every armor color has a meaning. Other than Black (Justice) or Sand Gold (Vengeance), what do all of the colors mean?

Green, as in Munin Skirata's armor(which Bardan is wearing these days), means duty. None of the others are referenced canonically yet.

I was fairly certain they also mentioned what Red was in the book, but then again, the ones I remembered being listed are all up there, so maybe not.

Ordo's Mando armor is red, and....*tilts head* Mereel? has blue, but they both specified that was because they liked the colors. :D

I doubt it, Delta's considerably non-Mando at this point.

So what do we think purple armor means?

Yes Skirata's is Vengence. If you look at his personality it fits. He wants to get revenge on Ko Sai for what she did to the Nulls.

Black - justice, sand gold - vengeance, green - duty, red - honoring a father, and blue - reliability.  I think those are all canon, but don't take my word for red and blue until we find out for sure.  I heard there will be some more colors in Karen Traviss's next Legacy of the Force book.  Keep in mind, however, that it doesnt really matter what color you choose for your armor - it doesn't have to mean what it does up above, it's all personal, just like Ord'ika and Mer'ika.

Red and blue as honoring a father and reliability are both good, as is grey for mourning a lost love. Ka'ra got an email back from Traviss on the matter.

Since I don't think the list has made it here...

Quote
KT gave us a list that won't exist till Febuary with Revelation. A list of Armor colours and meanings.

Gray = Mourning a Lost Love
Red = Honoring a Father
Black = Justice
Gold = Vengeance
Green = Duty
Blue = Reliability

She will make more as they come up in stories.

Gold star to Ta'vode for asking her. ;D

And I repeat here as well as on Ka'ra.....

1) Why is Hokan's red?

and 2) ....isn't Jango's armor grey?

uh, you see this is what i hate about star wars. Because of this new thing about armor color having a significance, people are gonna get all worked up about why Boba, Jango, Jaster, Montross, Hokan and a bunch of other Mando wear the color armor they wear. The people who created/designed these characters just chose the armor color for no other reason than because that is what they wanted them to wear. But now with this new idea about color meaning, you gotta back-track and come up with half-baked explanations for why those characters had those colors.

It is just like the same crap that happened with the fighting styles of the Jedi/Sith. When KOTORII came along and introduced the different fighting forms, people went apeshit trying to figure out what forms Anakin, Yoda, Dooku, Kenobi, Maul and all the others used. The bottom line is that Lucas did give a damn about fighting forms, they didn't exist at the time. He just wanted the fights to look awesome (which they do) and hired a swordsman to teach the actors specific fighting routines that look cool, and thats it. There is nothing more too it. Same with colored beskar, its just cosmetic!

Correct. It does say in the Mando guide that although the colors do have significance, some Mando's wear a color simply because they like it. In the last issue of Star Wars Insider, there is a blip on the Kamino landing pad where Obi Wan and Jango first duled. In the blurb it states that George Lucas originally intended for Jango's armor to be white... eluding to him being progenator of the Stormtroopers. However, when GL saw the unfinished armor with only the aluminum powder coat on it he liked it so much he choose to leave it silver.

I just thought of one color we don't know. Orange. The color of the gods and I forgot to ask. What does it mean?

If you don't like Retconning, JP, no one's demanding you pay attention to it. I, however, like going "ooh, what's the significance of ----?" so I don't intend to withdraw my question about Jango's armor color.

And I'll remind everyone that Hokan is TRAVISS' character. So it's pretty safe to assume she picked red for a reason. Why?
