Some Guidelines
« on: September 29, 2008, 04:28:59 PM »
I've already stated my intention not to moderate this forum (and at any rate, you guys are so active I can't keep up with all you threads anyway!) and I intend to stick by that. But in regards to some recent situations here I'd like to suggest the following:

1) Real-World locations be avoided in RP situations.
2) LucasArts facilities particularly be left alone.

I'm not going to lock threads or issue bans for violating these guidelines. I am going to point out that this site is a technical violation of the Star Wars Copyright - as all fan sites are. We are allowed to exist by the grace of the Star Wars Companies (LucasArts especially, since they created Republic Commando).

It is very well known that Star Wars companies frequently poll communities - most often in secret - to get feelings about new and old material. I, for one, do not want them searching for Republic Commando fan-sites only to find that it's members are engaging in RP operations that involve combat inside their headquarters. It reflects very badly on the community.

While this situation has already been dealt with much to everyones satisfaction (as far as I know) I hope that members of this forum will be a little more selective about the settings for their RPG's in the future.
Ignorance is a choice. Posting in ignorance is also a choice. Be prepared for the consequences.

Um, I try to have Cannon Cameo spotlights in my games, but other than that, I stay away from Cannon events to have my game feel like a part of the SW univers we all know and love. So I'm home free.

I never participated in the attacks on the headquarters, except once in another section.

"First Platoon wins!""And how do you figure that?""The others cheated.""I say they improvised.""They cheated!""THEY ADAPTED AND OVERCAME!"

Find an excuse to win.

Ladies and gentlemen. I have decided to modify Mark's original statement.

Any and ALL RP's are to be done here.

If someone has issue with that speak to me privately. I know we're not gonna have a bunch of craziness going on here but since some people wanted to do a real life RP I moved it here. I will echo Mark's statement and not monitor your threads. I will be reading from time to time just for personal fun.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled RPG...
The  purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in
defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more
important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

Drake and I agreed on something. Somebody get the camera out to capture the moment.

O, Thanks for clearing that up. There has been controversy on where RP's that take place in RL go, like we had a rather large discussion for the "Air Combat RP" but it stayed in the Off-topice section. So, Thanks for clearing that up  :D

I just clarified the forum info:
http://forum.clonecommandos.net/index.php?topic=29.0

In short, I'll echo Sean and say that all RP threads will indeed be in this forum. But in order to keep things organized, I'd ask that you ask a mod or myself before starting up a non-Star Wars role-playing game in here. Just so we know about it.

RPGs that do not take place in the SW universe now should go in the Non-Star Wars RPG subforum:

So um, do you guys want characters you made up in a particular place?
A lot of fan forums want you to post a character profile and stuff.
So people know a little bit about you.

Generally, what will happen is someone will post a new RPG, and you'll post the charrie in that thread. The rason for that is here we have RPGs on SO MANY different subjects.

And welcome to the site!
Lists of games I play:
-- Star Trek Online
-- KOTOR (1 and 2)
-- SWTOR
-- Terraria
-- TF2
-- Magicka
-- Left 4 Dead 2
-- Garry's Mod
And nearly any other F2P game on this planet.

Unlike many fourms we don't have one central RPG with many spin-offs where everyone has only one character, we treat each RPG as completely seperate unless it is stated that it is a sequal or spin-off. Every RPG will have a form in the beginning for you to create your character sheet.

Thank you. I like this idea a lot more. It allows you to create different personas and actually use some creativity.

Thank you for answering my question!!
